Role of Phra Tepsudhi (Somkuan Piyasilo), the Leader of Sangha in Fourteenth Regional Section and the Abbot of Wat Nimmanoradi with the Development for Thai Children and Youth

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the role of Phratepsuti toward the development of education for Thai children and youth and 2) to find out the results of development of education for Thai children and youth around Wat Nimmanoradi community. The qualitative methodology was employed in this study. The data were obtained from 13 key informants from the various groups of people who were monks, administrators, teachers, and pupils in Wat Nimmanoradi school, and the followers of Phratepsuti. The researcher used observation approaches, in-dept interview and documental study. The research tools were interview and observation forms. The collected data were analysed by content and inductive analysis. The findings were as follows:

1. Phratepsuti took his role to administer the facilities to be fundamental factors for Thai and youth such as educational fund, setting up the Thai children and youth center in Wat Nimmanoradi and meditation retreat center at Rajchaburi province. He administered education for the monks and novices called Free Education that integrated from the Buddhist doctrine concerning with threefold training, and sent the monks to teach the children in schools.

2. The result of Phratepsuti’s role in developing education was the way of educational development for Thai children and youth that focusing on helping or giving people in the community such as giving rice project. Then, the ordination was taken to raise up in high level of their minds. He also took care of the novices’ families with consumer products that was a morale gift for them. He used himself to be role model for the people in community and focused on co-operation with community, school, and government sector or agency to develop his works that Wat Nimmanoradi was used to be a center of helping. What he did became a holistic development and cause the temple becomes genuinely sanctuary or supporter for the people around Wat Nimmanoradi and others.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 1) เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทของพระเทพสุธี (สมควร ปิยสีโล) เจ้าคณะภาค 14 เจ้าอาวาส วัดนิมมานรดี ในงานพัฒนาเด็กและเยาวชน 2) เพื่อศึกษาผลที่เกิดขึ้นต่อชุมชนวัดนิมมานรดีจากการพัฒนาเด็กและเยาวชนของพระเทพสุธี (สมควร ปิยสีโล) เจ้าคณะภาค 14 เจ้าอาวาสวัดนิมมานรดี การวิจัยครั้งนี้ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยมีกลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญประกอบไปด้วยพระภิกษุวัดนิมมานรดี ผู้บริหาร ครู และนักเรียนโรงเรียนวัดนิมมานรดี ผู้ติดตามใกล้ชิดพระเทพสุธี จำนวน 13 รูป/คน ผู้วิจัยใช้ การสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม การสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก และการศึกษาจากเอกสาร เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ แบบสัมภาษณ์ แบบสังเกต การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาและการวิเคราะห์แบบอุปนัย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

1. บทบาทของพระเดชพระคุณหลวงพ่อพระเทพสุธี (สมควร ปิยสีโล) ได้บริหารจัดการด้านหลักสูตรและการสอนนักธรรมตั้งแต่นักธรรมชั้นตรีไปจนถึงนักธรรมชั้นเอก ผู้ที่สอบไล่ได้นักธรรมชั้นตรี ก็จะให้ศึกษาต่อด้านภาษาบาลีหรือภาษามคธ ซึ่งเป็นภาษาที่จารึกพระธรรมคำสอนของพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า โดยเปิดทำการสอนตั้งแต่ชั้นบาลีไวยากรณ์ไปจนถึงชั้นประโยค ป.ธ.6 และส่งพระภิกษุสามเณรไปสอนวิชาพระพุทธศาสนาในโรงเรียน 7 แห่ง คือ 1) วิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีภาษานุสรณ์บางแค 2) วิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีบุษยรัตน์บริหารธุรกิจ 3)โรงเรียนคลองหนองใหญ่ 4)โรงเรียนวัดนิมมานรดี 5)โรงเรียนราชวินิตประถมบางแค 6)โรงเรียนบางแคเนื่องสังวาลย์อนุสรณ์ 7)โรงเรียนวัดประดู่บางจาก และมอบทุนสนับสนุนโรงเรียนเพื่อการจัดการเรียนการสอนธรรมศึกษา ซึ่งเป็นการดำเนินนโยบายในชื่อ “ให้ธรรม ให้ทุน” และจัดกิจกรรมโครงการบรรพชาสามเณรและบวชเนกขัมมจาริณีภาคฤดูร้อนเป็นประจำทุกปี และสนับสนุนส่งเสริมให้มีการจัดการอบรมค่ายคุณธรรมให้แก่เด็กและเยาวชนเพื่อปลูกฝังคุณธรรมจริยธรรมให้แก่เด็กและเยาวชนเพื่อความเป็นคนเก่ง ดี และมีความสุข

2. ผลที่เกิดขึ้นต่อชุมชน คือ การมุ่งเน้นให้ความช่วยเหลือด้านปัจจัยพื้นฐานของคนในชุมชน ด้วยการให้ทาน (ทานมัย) เช่น โครงการแจกข้าวสารทุกเดือน โครงการเยี่ยมบ้านพระภิกษุสามเณรวัดนิมมานรดี โดยจัดสรรงบประมาณช่วยเหลือครอบครัว โดยใช้หลักการทำให้คนเกิดศรัทธาและมีความเชื่อมั่นในสิ่งที่หลวงพ่อทำ และประพฤติตนเป็นแบบอย่างที่ดีให้กับคนในชุมชนและสังคม ทั้งยังประสานความร่วมมือไปยังชุมชน วัด โรงเรียน และหน่วยงานราชการ หรือ “บวร” ในการพัฒนาชุมชนวัดนิมมานรดี ซึ่งถือเป็นการพัฒนาอย่างสมดุลหรือการพัฒนาแบบองค์รวม ทำให้วัดเป็นที่พึ่งทางกายและใจของชาวบ้านได้อย่างแท้จริง
