Ai Weiwei's Art Works Reflect the Social and Politics of China from 1993 to 2015

Abstract

This Thesis focuses on the study of the creative conceptual of Ai Wei Wei’s art works which criticisms of Chinese society and politics. From studying and analyzing the “Mixed media Installation” work as well as considering the political and social conditions of China at that time.

From the study art works can identify his creative conceptual art works into 2 ways. 1. The art works which related with important social and political events. In this group, it reflect widely impact of those social and political events

2. The art works that imply the reflection on Chinese society and politics criticism. In this group will be influenced by the artist as the main effort to reflect for the lack of freedom from the regime, social inequality, etc. Most of them are past events. In addition, it is found that artists often choose to use ready-made materials that have cultural historical meaning or related events which are consistent with the content. As a result, the work of Ai WeiWei become more remarkable and can keep connect with the social trend.

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มุ่งนำเสนอการศึกษาแนวคิดในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปะที่มีเนื้อหาเชิงวิพากษ์วิจารณ์สังคมและการเมืองจีนของอ้าย เว่ยเว่ยศิลปินชาวจีน โดยศึกษาและวิเคราะห์จากผลงานประเภทศิลปะจัดวางสื่อผสม(Mixed Media Installation)รวมทั้งนำเอาสภาพการเมืองและสังคมของจีนในขณะนั้นมาศึกษาร่วมด้วย โดยทำการศึกษาจากผลงานศิลปะที่ทำขึ้นในช่วงระหว่างปี 1993-2015 ซึ่งเป็นช่วงระยะเวลาที่ผลงานศิลปะของอ้าย เว่ยเว่ยมีความเกี่ยวข้องกับการเมืองและสังคมจีนอย่างโดดเด่น

จากการศึกษาพบว่าสามารถวิเคราะห์แนวคิดในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทั้งในช่วงระยะเวลาดังกล่าว แบ่งได้เป็น 2 แนวทาง คือ 1. ผลงานศิลปะที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์สำคัญทางสังคมและการเมืองจีน โดยผลงานในกลุ่มนี้จะเกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์สำคัญที่เกิดขึ้นในช่วงเวลานั้นและมีผลกระทบต่อสังคมเป็นวงกว้าง 2. ผลงานศิลปะที่แฝงนัยยะการวิพากษ์วิจารณ์เสียดสีสังคมและการเมืองจีน ในกลุ่มนี้จะได้อิทธิพลจากตัวศิลปินเป็นหลักที่พยายามสะท้อนการขาดสิทธิเสรีภาพจากระบอบการปกครอง ความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคม ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นเรื่องราวที่เกิดขึ้นมานานแล้ว นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าศิลปินมักจะเลือกนำเอาวัสดุพร้อมใช้(Ready Made) ที่มีความหลากหลาย มีความหมายเชิงลึกทางสังคมวัฒนธรรม ประวัติศาสตร์หรือที่เกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุการณ์มีความสอดคล้องไปกับเนื้อหาสาระได้อย่างลงตัว จากแนวคิดในการสร้างผลงานและวิธีการเลือกใช้วัสดุดังกล่าวจึงทำให้ผลงานของ อ้าย เว่ยเว่ยยิ่งโดดเด่นในระบอบการปกครองแบบคอมมิวนิสต์และทันต่อกระแสสังคมได้อย่างน่าสนใจ
