Collective Identity of Disguised Characters in Thai Classical Literature to Create Visual Arts

Abstract

Disguised characters appearing in Thai classical literary works and paintings are regarded as a precious cultural heritage, conforming to the 20-Year National Strategy and the master plan under the National Plan for the issue of value and cultural changes. Characters in Thai classical literary works are outstanding, for they could shine as contemporary art and culture. Thai classical literary works contained proverbs and refined the minds of future generations.

This research aimed to 1) study Thai classical literary works with disguised characters, 2) analyze the identity connection of disguised characters in Thai classical literary work, 3) suggest guidelines on the creation of an identity connection process of disguised characters in the Thai classical literary works, and 4) create imagery through a prototype of disguised characters in Thai classical literary works. The researcher conducted a field study at the site for data collection of artistic works that took Thai classical literary work as the “prototype” that has generated influence and inspirations from the past to currently. Experts in the relevant fields were interviewed to analyze and synthesize their concepts, including artistic work analysis, for synthesizing that knowledge into new concepts that led to techniques for the identity connection of disguised characters. The creation used scientific principles based on reality by focusing on the hormonal changes in the human body over a brief time, guided by principles of visual arts. The creation was mainly under personification from the imagination of the creator, combined with meaning transfer from Thai classical literary works. The personalities of the characters were the point of focus by decoding their identities from the Thai classical literary works to the knowledge of the character connection. Knowledge of science and art was combined, leading to techniques for the identity connection of disguised characters.

The results were concluded as follows. (1) For the identity connection of disguised characters by the three guidelines, i.e., 1) science, 2) visual art, and 3) Thai classical literary works on disguise in 5 phases, it was found that the experts viewed knowledge of those styles as very suitable (x̄ = 3.60). The quality of the work was also very suitable (x̄ = 3.78). The assessment result of satisfaction toward utilization of the work was at the most suitable level (x̄ = 4.59). And the assessment result of satisfaction by 68 samples was also at the most suitable level (x̄ = 4.60).

ตัวละครที่จำแลงกายปรากฏขึ้นในวรรณคดีไทยและจิตรกรรมไทย ถือว่าเป็นมรกดกทางวัฒนธรรม ที่มีคุณค่า สอดคล้องกับยุทธศาสตร์ชาติ 20 ปี และแผนแม่บทภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ชาติ ในประเด็นการปรับเปลี่ยน ค่านิยมและวัฒนธรรม โดยตัวละครในวรรณคดีมีความโดดเด่นที่สามารถโลดแล่นได้ในส่วนของการเป็นวัฒนธรรม ศิลปะร่วมสมัย ซึ่งวรรณคดีไทยมีการสอดแทรกคำสอนแฝงในเนื้อหาและทำหน้าที่หล่อหลอมกล่อมเกลาจิตใจ ไว้ให้รุ่นหลังได้คิด

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อศึกษาวรรณคดีไทยที่มีการจำแลงกายของตัวละคร 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์ การเชื่อมโยงอัตลักษณ์ของตัวละครที่จำแลงกายในงานวรรณคดีไทย 3) เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์การเชื่อมโยงอัตลักษณ์ของตัวละครในงานวรรณคดีไทย 4) เพื่อสร้างจินตภาพผ่านผลงานต้นแบบของตัวละคร ที่จำแลงกายในงานวรรณคดีไทย ผู้วิจัยได้ทำการลงพื้นที่เพื่อเก็บข้อมูลงานศิลปกรรมที่มีวรรณคดีไทยเป็น “ต้นแบบ” ที่สร้างอิทธิพลและแรงบันดาลใจตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน โดยได้ทำการสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง เพื่อวิเคราะห์ สังเคราะห์ แนวคิดจากผู้เชี่ยวชาญ รวมถึงวิเคราะห์ผลงานศิลปกรรม เพื่อนำองค์ความรู้ เหล่านั้นมาสังเคราะห์เป็นแนวคิดใหม่ ซึ่งนำมาสู่กลวิธีการเชื่อมโยงอัตลักษณ์ตัวละครที่จำแลงกาย โดยมีแนวทาง ในการสร้างสรรค์ โดยใช้หลักการทางวิทยาศาสตร์ที่เป็นฐานจากความจริงโดยเน้นเรื่องฮอร์โมนที่ส่งผลให้ร่างกาย มนุษย์เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงภายในระยะเวลาสั้น ๆ หลักการทางทัศนศิลป์เป็นตัวนำ โดยเน้นการสร้างสรรค์ ตามแนวคิดเรื่องบุคลาธิษฐานจากจินตนาการของผู้สร้างสรรค์ และผสานกับการสื่อความหมายตามวรรณคดีไทย เน้นบุคลิกลักษณะของตัวละครโดยถอดอัตลักษณ์จากงานประพันธ์ จึงมาสู่องค์ความรู้ในการเชื่อมโยงตัวละคร โดยผสมผสานความรู้ทั้งศาสตร์และศิลป์เข้าด้วยกัน นำมาซึ่งกลวิธีการเชื่อมโยงอัตลักษณ์ตัวละครที่จำแลงกาย

ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ (1) การเชื่อมโยงอัตลักษณ์ตัวละครจาก 3 แนวทาง คือ 1) วิทยาศาสตร์ 2) ทัศนศิลป์ 3) วรรณคดีไทย การจำแลงกายทั้ง 5 ระยะ พบว่า ผู้เชี่ยวชาญมีความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับองค์ความรู้ รูปแบบดังกล่าวอยู่ในระดับเหมาะสมมาก (x̄ = 3.60) คุณภาพของผลงานอยู่ในระดับเหมาะสมมาก (x̄ = 3.78) ผลการประเมินความพึงพอใจต่อการนำผลงานสร้างสรรค์ไปใช้ประโยชน์อยู่ในระดับเหมาะสมมากที่สุด (x̄ = 4.59) และผลการประเมินความพึงพอใจโดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างจำนวน 68 คน อยู่ในระดับเหมาะสมมากที่สุด (x̄ = 4.60)
