Abstract

This work, Agong’s Apchao tells the story of the difficult life of Agong (great-grandfather), a Chinese who migrated to Thailand to settle into a new life, integrated with the story of Apchao(s), Chinese stone sculptures used as ballasts to balance cargo ships from China to Thailand. The sculptures reflect the life of the Siamese-Chinese people who traveled from their country to face the hardship abroad.

For the scope of the study, this work presents digital form sculptures that narrate the way of life of the Siamese Chinese who traveled from their homeland to work abroad in Thailand through the interpretation and integration of the story of Apchao, Chinese stone sculptures that was transported to Thailand as ship ballasts. The techniques used in this work were inspired by the stonework of ancient Thai architectural sculptures that were influenced by Khmer art, which has been associated with Thai and Chinese cultures for a long time. The study was done by collecting information from many art and history books, and various modern medias related to the story of the Siamese-Chinese and Chinese stone sculpture.The digital sculptures represent a set of the replicas of Agong sculpting in 3D modeling software and printing it out via a 3D printer.The work conveys the story of the tiredness and gloom of Agong (and his Apchao life) who worked hard trying his best to take care of his family.The pieces of work are decorated with warrior’s gear, which is a blend of Thai and Chinese arts. The warrior equipment is designed in Chinese style, but the patterns are inspired by Sukhothai patterns, which is considered an ancient Thai pattern that is believed to be transmitted and adapted from ancient Chinese people long time ago.

The work illustrates gestures, acts and facial expressions of the Chinese laborers in Siam during their break from work, expressing the weariness, sadness, discouragement, and anxiety. The sculptures were designed and created in 3D modeling software and printed using

การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานวิทยานิพนธ์ หัวข้อเรื่อง อับเฉาของอากง มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการบอกเล่าเรื่องราวชีวิตที่ลำบากของอากงซึ่งเป็นชาวจีนที่อพยพมาสู่ประเทศไทยเพื่อแสวงหาชีวิตใหม่รวมเข้ากับเรื่องราวของตุ๊กตาอับเฉาที่เป็นตุ๊กตาประติมากรรมศิลาจีนสำหรับถ่วงเรือสินค้าจากจีนเพื่อเดินเรือกลับมายังประเทศไทยในลักษณะของงานประติมากรรมที่สะท้อนถึงความอับเฉาของชีวิตชาวจีนสยามที่ต้องรอนแรมจากบ้านเมืองมาทำงานตรากตรำลำบากอยู่ต่างแดน

ขอบเขตของการศึกษานำเสนอผลงานในรูปแบบประติมากรรมดิจิตอลที่มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับชีวิตของชาวจีนสยามพี่ต้องเดินทางจากบ้านเกิดเมืองนอนมาทำงานประจำอยู่ในประเทศไทยโดยศึกษาข้อมูลรวบรวมกับเรื่องราวของตุ๊กตาอับเฉารวมเข้ากับเทคนิควิธีการต่อชิ้นงานที่ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากการต่อศิลาของประติมากรรมสถาปัตยกรรมไทยโบราณที่ได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากขอมซึ่งมุ่งเน้นไปในทางที่เป็นการทำผลงานที่เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมไทยและจีนที่เชื่อมโยงกันมาช้านานทำการศึกษาข้อมูลจากหนังสือและสื่อสมัยใหม่ต่างๆที่ โดยการนำเสนอจะเป็นการสร้างงานประติมากรรมดิจิตอลนี่เป็นรูปจำลองของอากงหรือคุณทวดด้วยวิธีการปั้นในคอมพิวเตอร์และทำการผลิตผ่านเครื่องพิมพ์ 3 มิติ โดยในตัวงานจะสื่อถึงเรื่องราวของความความหม่นหมองของชีวิตจับกังที่ต้องทำงานลำบากเพื่อดูแลครอบครัว และยังมีการตกแต่งด้วยเครื่องทรงของนักรบที่มีการผสมผสานระหว่างศิลปะไทยและจีนโดยมีการออกแบบให้รูปแบบของเครื่องทรงนักรบนั้นมีรูปแบบที่เป็นแบบจีนแต่มีลวดลายเป็นลวดลายที่ได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากลวดลายสุโขทัยซึ่งถือว่าเป็นลายไทยโบราณที่มีที่มาจากการที่ชาวจีนโบราณนั้นได้ทำการสอนไว้เมื่อครั้งอดีต

ผลของการสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน ครั้งนี้แสดงออกถึง ท่าทางและกิริยาต่างๆของกรรมกรจีนในสยามในช่วงเวลาพักจากการทำงานที่แสดงออกถึงความเหน็ดเหนื่อยที่ถูกสร้างสรรค์ด้วยวิธีการปั้นชิ้นงานด้วยคอมพิวเตอร์และผ่านการผลิตด้วยเทคโนโลยีเครื่องพิมพ์ 3 มิติ ออกมาเป็นผลงานประติมากรรมจำนวน 5ชิ้น โดยชิ้นที่ 1 มีลักษะเป็นงานประติมากรรมนั่งกอดเข่าที่มีใบหน้าเศร้าหมอง ชื้นที่ 2 เป็นงานที่อยู่ในลักษณะของกรรมกรที่นอนพักเหนื่อยใช้มือก่ายหน้าผาก ชิ้นที่ 3 เป็นงานที่มีลักษณะเป็นกรรมกรนั่งฟุบอยู่กับเก้าอี้อย่างไร้เรี่ยวแรง ชิ้นที่ 4 เป็นงานที่มีลักษณะเป็นกรรมกรนอนคุดคู้ดูสิ้นหวัง ชิ้นที่ 5 เป็นงานที่มีลักษณะของกรรมกรที่ยืนใกล้จะล้มอยู่เต็มที
