THE NARROW SPACE OF VASTNESS

Abstract

The thesis titled "The Narrow Spaces of Vastness" is a qualitative research and creative endeavor in the field of art, drawing upon my experiences as a creator amidst the proliferation of row houses, residential buildings, and architecture in the constrained space of Bangkok, where natural areas have gradually transformed into built environments. This transformation has almost eradicated spaces conducive to breathing, influencing me as an observer to seek spaces in between, limiting the dominance of angular spaces indoors, and engaging with natural environments and emerging landscapes to counterbalance the influence of constructed spaces.

The methodology for creators is framed within the qualitative research paradigm, involving gathering data on concepts, inspirations, and influences related to creativity, encompassing influences from places, nature, and the environment, literature, and multidisciplinary artists. This is explained in relation to analysis, interpretation, and creative work through artistic techniques and processes, particularly screen printing, incorporating imagery of geometric shapes intertwined with the backdrop of landscapes and landscape architecture, reflecting awareness of the existence of various elements from both accustomed and reverse perspective.

วิทยานิพนธ์หัวข้อ “พื้นที่แคบแห่งความเวิ้งว้าง” ฉบับนี้ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพและการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทางทัศนศิลป์ โดยอ้างอิงจากประสบการณ์ของข้าพเจ้าในฐานะผู้สร้างสรรค์ ที่เกิดและเติบโตแวดล้อมไปด้วยตึกแถว อาคารบ้านเรือน และสถาปัตยกรรม ซึ่งนับวันจะยิ่งเพิ่มขึ้นเป็นเท่าทวีคูณท่ามกลางพื้นที่อันจำกัดของเมืองหลวงอย่างกรุงเทพมหานคร พื้นที่ของธรรมชาติกลืนกลายหายไปเป็นอื่น ซึ่งอาจกล่าวได้ว่ารูปธรรมของสิ่งปลูกสร้างเหล่านั้นแทบไม่เหลือพื้นที่ที่เอื้อต่อการหายใจ ส่งอิทธิพลต่อข้าพเจ้าในฐานะผู้สังเกตและเฝ้ามอง ไปจนกระทั่งแสวงหาพื้นที่ระหว่างกลาง เพื่อให้จำกัดความของเหลี่ยมมุมอันเป็นพื้นที่ภายในได้ออกเดินทางปะทะสังสรรค์กับพื้นที่ภายนอกอย่างสถานที่ธรรมชาติ และสภาพแวดล้อมอื่นอันปรากฏขึ้นภายใต้กรอบของการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานทางทัศนศิลป์

วิธีวิทยาสำหรับผู้สร้างสรรค์กระทำขึ้นในรูปกรอบของวิธีวิทยาการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยวิธีการศึกษารวบรวมข้อมูลที่มาของแนวคิด แรงบันดาลใจ และอิทธิพลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการสร้างสรรค์ ประกอบไปด้วยอิทธิพลที่ได้รับจากสถานที่ ธรรมชาติ และสภาพแวดล้อม อิทธิพลที่ได้รับจากงานวรรณกรรม และอิทธิพลที่ได้รับจากรูปแบบผลงานของศิลปินหลากสื่อหลายแขนง อธิบายสัมพันธ์กับส่วนของการวิเคราะห์ ตีความ และสร้างสรรค์ผลงานผ่านเทคนิคและกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์ทางทัศนศิลป์ ภาพพิมพ์ตะแกรงไหม (Screenprint) ซึ่งปรากฏภาพของรูปทรงประกอบสร้างร่วมกับฉากของภูมิทัศน์ และภูมิสถาปัตย์ ที่กลืนกลายซ้อนทับอยู่บนระนาบผลงานสองมิติ สะท้อนความตระหนักถึงการมีอยู่ของสิ่งต่างๆ ทั้งในมุมที่คุ้นเคยและมุมมองใหม่ที่กลับด้านจากเดิม
