The Effects of Learning Management by Using SQ4R Technique to Improve English Reading Comprehension Abilities of Eighth Graders

Abstract

The research explore the effect of learning manangement by using SQ4R technique to improve English reading comprehension abilities of eighth graders. The purpose of this research were to: 1) compare students' English reading comprehension abilities before and after using SQ4R technique, and 2) study the students' opinions towords using SQ4R technique.

The sample, selected by a cluster sampling technique, comprised 29 eighth graders at Watnangsao school during the second of academic year 2022. The instruments used for this research consisted of; 1) lesson plans with SQ4R techniques 2) an English reading comprehension test used as a pretest and posttest, and 3) the opinions questionaire towards using SQ4R technique. The paired-sample t-test was used to analyze the students' English reading comprehension abilities.

The result of the study were as follow:

1. The students' English reading comprehension abilities after using SQ4R technique were significantly higher at the 0.05 level.

2. The students' opinions towards using SQ4R technique were at the highest level of agreement.

การวิจัยเรื่อง ผลของการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2 ครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยกึ่งการทดลอง มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจของนักเรียน ก่อนและหลังการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R และ 2) เพื่อศึกษาความคิดเห็นของนักเรียนที่มีต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R

กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ นักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 2/1 โรงเรียนวัดนางสาว(ถาวรราษฎร์บำรุง) ภาคเรียนที่ 2 ปีการศึกษา 2565 จำนวน 1 ห้องเรียน มีนักเรียนจำนวน 29 คน ซึ่งได้โดยการใช้วิธีสุ่มแบบแบ่งกลุ่ม (Cluster Sampling) โดยใช้ห้องเรียนเป็นหน่วยสุ่ม จากนั้นทำการทดลองโดยให้นักเรียนทำแบบทดสอบก่อนบทเรียน และจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนโดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R ใช้เวลาทั้งสิ้น 6ชั่วโมง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ประกอบด้วย 1) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้ภาษาอังกฤษโดยประยุกต์ใช้เทคนิค SQ4R 2) แบบทดสอบวัดความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจ เป็นแบบทดสอบแบบปรนัย ชนิดเลือกตอบ 4 ตัวเลือก และ 3) แบบสำรวจความความคิดเห็นของนักเรียนที่มีการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลใช้ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบค่า t-test แบบจับคู่ (Paired-Samples T-test)

ผลการวิจัยพบว่า

1. ความสามารถในการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจของนักเรียนหลังการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R สูงกว่าก่อนเรียน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

2. นักเรียนมีความคิดเห็นต่อการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้เทคนิค SQ4R อยู่ในระดับเห็นด้วยมากที่สุด
